We're fairly new to the poultry world, but are quickly finding it's becoming an obsession. We have a rather diverse flock and don't focus on any breed in particular and with only one bantam roo, production isn't something we're overly interested in. Our eggs are gathered daily and distributed to the neighbors, but we won't be upset if the girls manage to hide one or two fertile eggs from us. Although our little roo is pretty sure that his sole purpose is to protect our entire flock from not only the canines, hawks and large insects (too cute), it's really the Khaki Campbell ducks that act as our alarm system. We recently introduced a Royal Palm turkey to the group and while he/she gets picked on a bit now, he/she's growing quick and will soon be putting everyone in their place. Watching their antics and seeing the entire flock run to what their neighbor may have discovered is a joy. We love our birds!
