About Me

My daughter started me on my Chicken passion (picutred above) by being in 4-H.  When we moved to Lothian, Maryland, lots of critters decided to make my flock their drive through window.  We are now down to nine hens.  The bantam above, Bubba, we got from the 2010 show and was the last rooster that was attacked.  Now the coop and fenced area is like Ft. Knox!  I currently have Americaunas, a Plymouth Rock, some sort of Japanese bantam and two sex links produced from my late Americauna Roo and my late Cookoo Maran.  These gals lay really cool looking olive green eggs.  Previously, we had several silkies, bantam polish, and an Old English roo named Lil'Dude.  He would always talk to you if you crowed at him.  The hens still free range under my watchful eye, as they were usually taken during the evening.  Every evening if the hens don't go in before dusk, my sheltie, JoJo, helps me round them up.  Not to many more problems, since we "humanely" trapped the predators and took them to new homes far. far away! ~ teresa
